One locally remaining vestige of the Parker Pen dynasty is about to become a thing of the past.
Parker Community Credit Union announced that as of Monday, it will change its signs to officially become Educators Credit Union, according to a news release.
The move comes after Parker Community Credit Union member-owners voted in August to approve a merger with Educators Credit Union.
Parker Community Credit Union operates locations in Janesville, Milton and Beloit. All of its offices will remain open with the same staff under the change, but they’ll be renamed Educators Credit Union, according to the release.
The credit union was established by Parker Pen employees in the mid-1930s and outlived Parker Pen’s presence in Janesville.
The merger last year with Educators Credit Union is being touted as “mutually beneficial” to the two credit unions.
It offers Educators Credit Union a chance to expand into southern Wisconsin, and the merger is intended to give members access to more products and services and a larger overall banking network, according to the release.
