Janesville office products supplier and service company OfficePro announced Tuesday it has bought out a longtime Elkhorn janitorial supply company.
OfficePro has acquired Elkhorn Chemical and Packaging. The buyout occurred in early December, OfficePro President Jamin Arn said.
Elkhorn Chemical provides janitorial, safety and packaging supplies. The company has been in business since 1946.
Under the buyout, Elkhorn Chemical will retain its company name, but it is now owned and operated by OfficePro, Arn said. The deal grows OfficePro’s umbrella of employees from 24 to about 50 and expands OfficePro and Elkhorn Chemical’s reach to encompass a larger swath of southeastern and south-central Wisconsin and part of northern Illinois, Arn said.
The buyout gives Office Pro a foothold in janitorial supplies and products, and under the deal OfficePro is setting up service departments at its locations for equipment such as floor cleaners.
OfficePro specializes in office products, equipment, furniture and document shredding services, but in the last few years it has been branching out to include sales of other office-related products, including water and coffee, Arn said.
The buyout of Elkhorn Chemical is OfficePro’s biggest buyout yet and its first major inroad to selling janitorial supplies. It’s a move Arn said “will allow us to diversify, grow and become even more competitive.”
“This was really an enhancement for both companies. It’s really the yin to the yang,” Arn said.
Under the buyout, OfficePro will offer Elkhorn Chemical products and services at its three locations: Janesville, Hartland and now at Elkhorn Chemicals’ location at 208 E. Morrisey Drive in Elkhorn.
OfficePro in September 2016 bought out 50-year-old Inter Office Products in Hartland and in early 2017 bought out Commercial Office Products in New Berlin.
Commercial Office Products and Inter Office merged operations at Inter Office’s Hartland location, creating a distribution hub for OfficePro between the Madison and Milwaukee markets.
