Trewyn sets Whippet mark
WHITEWATER Brooke Trewyn set the all-time Whitewater High girls basketball scoring record to lead the Whippets to a critical Rock Valley Conference victory.
Trewyn, a junior, scored 28 points as the Whippets defeated Clinton, 54-36.
Trewyn needed 14 points to surpass the record set by 1980 graduate Kristi Pease. Trewyn passed that in the first quarter when she scored 16. Pease's career total of 1,055 points lasted 33 years.
Kailey Reynolds added 13 points in the victory.
Whitewater's 20-6 third quarter proved to be the difference.
Mallory Niemann led the Cougars with 15 points.

-- Edgerton 49, Palmyra-Eagle 46—Kassie Walters hit a basket and made a free throw to account for the winning points in the Crimson Tide's victory over visiting Palmyra-Eagle.
The Panthers missed two three-point attempts in the final seconds.
Walters finished with seven points. Whitney Oren led Edgerton with 27 points, including 10 free throws.
Sam Moratek led Palmyra-Eagle with 19 points.

-- Parkview 46, Turner 31—Ciarra Heldt scored 11 of her game-high 13 points in the first quarter to carry the Vikings.
Parkview bounced back from from scoring two points in the second quarter to taking a 16-4 advantage in the third quarter for as 33-18 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
Lindsey Louderbach scored 12 points for Turner, and Kayla Washburn added 10.
