— Beloit police are seeking the public's help to make arrests in a Saturday afternoon shooting near St. Lawrence Avenue and Moore Street in Beloit.

According to a news release:

Two victims were walking west on St. Lawrence Avenue at about 1 p.m. when a white, four-door car, possibly a Buick, traveling north on Moore Street approached them. The two men in the car confronted the victims, who did not know them and kept walking.

The driver fired multiple shots from a handgun at the two victims from the car. The car then sped north on Moore Street. The men in the car displayed gang signs and yelled gang-related phrases during the incident. The victims have no known gang affiliations.

One victim, a 19-year-old man, was shot in the leg, and surgery was required to remove the bullet. The other victim, a 20-year-old man, was not injured.

The shooter is described as a light-skinned Hispanic man, about 23 years old, with a short, faded-style haircut and no facial hair.

The passenger is described as a darker-skinned Hispanic man in his early 20s with a stocky build, well-groomed "chin strap" style beard and mustache. He was wearing a royal blue ball cap, blue button-up shirt and a South Pole "puffy" coat with the letters "PF" on the right chest.
