WIAC title hopes vanish at Point
STEVENS POINT Any hopes of winning the WIAC title went down the drain for UW-Whitewater's men's basketball team Wednesday night.
UW-Stevens Point went on a late 12-1 run in rallying past the Warhawks, 67-57.
Whitewater (14-4, 7-3) fell three games behind frontrunning Stevens Point (17-2, 10-0) as the Pointers completed the regular-season sweep.
The Warhawks took their last lead of the game at 47-45 on KJ Evans' basket with 5:34 left, but the Pointers responded with a 12-1 run to pull away.
Evans and Darnell Harris led the Warhawks with 14 points each. Whitewater was only 4-for-19 from three-point range.
Joe Ritchay had 15 points to lead Stevens Point, which made 15 of 18 free throws.
