5. Isnt this area in Houston prone to shootings? From what ive heard from people that live there its almost a daily thing... why is this in the spotlight? Perhaps someone hopes it will help the anti-gun movement? Yep. Idiots.

Maynard, excellent point about the Internet and its role in the global market. However looking at my own place of business it is contrary to that, in my department of 11 people we have 4 people from other countries, it use to be a higher ratio, we have trouble finding qualified people in this area and the folks from India and Pakistan are willing to move here for the work. My goal is to do what you outlined about working from anywhere, as technology increases the ability to communicate faster and better I plan on leaving for another country as well , this is at least 10-15 years away but it is a plan nonetheless. You point out the economy is global and I appreciate that you recognize that, too many don’t and it is that ignorance that will make them fall further and further behind.

Eagle1: Agreed with this exception. The internet with world wide web has allowed many of the service jobs to go overseas as well. Highly educated CPA's in India can do the books over there for $12000 per year which is great pay for them. Medical tests, exams, xrays, etc. can be read overnight elsewhere in the world and information sent back to our doctor. Video conferencing replaces the standard corner office. We have 8+ million jobs less than we had 4 years ago and they are not all unskilled manufacturing jobs. Cheaper to build overseas at their wages and lack of safety and pollution controls has been an issue. Now with the Web, cheaper to do many "service jobs" overseas as well. That actually is my biggest concern more than the loss of manufacturing jobs because I do not see the manufacturing jobs coming back. Unless you physically have to be hands on .. the job can be done elsewhere.

Is number 4 really news, this has been a trend for 15 -20 years, anyone that is surprised by this are the ones that still justify high pay and through the roof benefits for unskilled manufacturing. The World is changing we are becoming a more service oriented economy more and more everyday and that is focused on technology. The faster people realize and embrace this for themselves the better off they will be. Holding onto the dark ages of unskilled manufacturing being a prosperous way of life is a dead end. Move on and come to the light, it’s pretty great.

Is it my imagination, or does it appear that Boehner is leaning towards the LEFT ?
