Monroe boys overcome Craig's fast start
MONROE Janesville Craig High's fast start ended with a 63-53 loss Tuesday to host Monroe in nonconference boys basketball.
The Cougars made four of their six three-pointers in the first quarter to gain an 18-16 lead. But Craig was held to eight points in the second quarter as the Cheesemakers tied it 26-all at the half.
Monroe found the range in the third quarter, rolling to a 17-11 advantage for a 43-37 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
Joe Latimer scored a game-high 23 points for Monroe (12-1) and Alex Barenklau added 11. Jerry Ngobi scored 15 points and Troy Malmanger added 13 for the Cougars.
Craig (8-8, 5-6) plays 7:30 p.m. Friday at Verona.
