Whitewater girls hand Wilmot first loss

— Whitewater High outscored host Wilmot in three quarters to hand the Panthers their first loss of the season, 60-49, in a battle of ranked Division 2 teams Monday in nonconference girls basketball.

The No. 8-ranked Whippets trailed only after the first quarter, 14-13. Whitewater gained a 14-10 edge on the No. 5-ranked Panthers in the second quarter for a 27-24 lead.

The Whippets (12-1) kept the momentum in the third frame, rolling to a 15-8 advantage to take a 42-32 lead into the final quarter. Whitewater claimed an 18-17 edge in the fourth to seal the victory.

Junior guard Brooke Trewyn scored a game-high 23 points for Whitewater. Sarah Schumacher added 15 points and Kailey Reynolds chipped in 12 for the Whippets.

Keri Clements scored 15 points and Sarah Vozel added 13 for Wilmot (13-1).

-- Baraboo 66, Edgerton 45—The Crimson Tide lost to visiting Baraboo in a makeup nonconference girls basketball game Monday.

The Crimson Tide trailed, 30-19, at the half and 53-35 after three quarters. Samantha Terry scored seven of her 22 points and Kelsey Digmann scored eight of her 10 points in the third quarter for Baraboo, which built a 23-16 edge in the quarter.

Kassie Walters scored 11 points and Whitney Oren added 10 points for Edgerton.

-- Clinton 43, Monroe 39—The Cougars held on to earn a nonconference victory over the Cheesmakers.

Clinton sank all five of its free throws in the fourth quarter. Mallory Niemann scored five of her 13 points, and Megan Lantz scored six of her game-high 17 points in the final quarter for the Cougars.

-- Big Foot 60, Williams Bay 43—The Chiefs buried the Bulldogs with a 21-8 fourth-quarter rally for the nonconference victory.

Molly Kovarik scored seven of her team-high 14 points in the fourth quarter for Big Foot. Danielle Young added 10 points for the Chiefs.

Claire Canda scored 17 points for Williams Bay and teammate Josie Bauscher added 11 points.

-- Brodhead 69, Oregon 62 (OT)—Brodhead (12-0) led 47-38 after three quarters, but Oregon rolled to a 19-10 advantage in the fourth quarter to send the game into overtime. Brodhead regrouped and rolled up a 12-5 edge in the OT to seal the victory.

Maddy Gits scored a game-high 29 points for Oregon.

Carly Mohns scored 25 points for Brodhead, and teammate Taylor Douglas added 16.
