Brandon Fryda ensured that Janesville Parker would earn a Big Eight Conference wrestling victory Thursday night.

Fryda's pin in the 170-pound weight class gave the Vikings enough breathing room to survive a forfeit in the final match and a 42-39 Big Eight Conference victory over visiting Madison East.

Fryda's pin in 3:14 gave the Vikings a 42-33 lead.

Parker coach Andy Tubbs labeled Fryda "the hero of the night."

"He needed a major decision, technical fall or a pin in order for us to win," Tubbs said. "Everybody who watched his match is extremely proud of the heart and determination he showed."

The Vikings earned forfeits in the three lightest weight classes, and received pins from Dylan Siener (126), Mat Pakes (152) and Fryda.

"Pakes relied on his sharp instincts and strength to pin East's wrestler," Tubbs said. "Dylan Siener bumped up a weight class and came away with a pin."
