Early misses cost Parker boys
Janesville Parker couldn't find the basket in the first half, which led to a Big Eight Conference boys basketball loss at Madison La Follette on Thursday night.
The Vikings missed 11 shots in the lane and seven of 11 free throws in the first half, and the Lancers built an insurmountable lead en route to a 72-57 victory.
"We just couldn't make a shot in the first half," said Parker coach Ryan Masterson.
The first half ended with the Lancers leading, 35-14. Masterson sent his team into full-court pressure throughout the second half, which seemed to energize the Vikings.
Parker outscored La Follette by eight points in the third quarter, and reduced the deficit to nine points in the fourth quarter before falling back.
"We played everybody in the second half," Masterson said. "Our whole team had a lot of energy and competed.
"They made it a game in the fourth quarter," Masterson said. "I was impressed with their effort."
Mitch Treinen, David Palan and Cullen Osmond each scored eight points for the Vikings, and 12 players scored.
Parker plays at Madison Memorial on Saturday night.
