A hot-shooting night kept UW-Whitewater's women's basketball team in first place in the WIAC.

The Warhawks shot nearly 50 percent from the field in a 71-62 win over visiting UW-Platteville on Wednesday night.

Whitewater (12-3, 6-0) pulled away in the second half thanks to the play of Megan Theune and an impressive 17-for-20 performance at the free-throw line. Theune finished with 18 points to lead the Warhawks, while Kaitlyn Thill added 11 points and four assists.

Elizabeth Lawinger had a game-high 19 points for Platteville.
