Craig gymnasts win Big Eight finale

Craig High defeated Middleton, 132.8-130.6, Wednesday to conclude the Big Eight Conference gymnastics regular season.

Craig finished 4-3 in the Big Eight.

Ashley McGoey won the balance beam (9.2) and the floor exercise (9.1). Ashley Pohlman won the vault (9.2).

"Ashley Pohlman had an outstanding vault," Craig coach Jean Welch said. "Ashley McGoey had a very nice floor and beam. All the girls contributed in a big way.''

Welch is pleased with the Cougars' momentum.

"The girls have really stepped up their routines, and our scores are going up," Welch said. "That's what we are aiming for this time in the season.''

Craig hosts the Big Eight Conference meet at 10 a.m. Saturday.
