Beloit man accused of stealing two cars
TOWN OF BELOIT A Beloit man has been charged with fleeing in a stolen vehicle from a crash he caused while driving a different stolen vehicle between Janesville and Beloit on Feb. 4.
Tyler W. Jester, 27, of 813 Columbine Drive, Beloit, is charged with two counts of driving a vehicle without owner consent, hit and run, operating while revoked, criminal property damage and disorderly conduct.
Jester is in custody at the Rock County Jail on a $3,000 cash bond, according to jail records.
Jester told police he was trying to get away from the scene of a domestic argument Feb. 4 on Garfield Avenue in Beloit. When he saw someone calling 911, he ran through a yard and took off in an unoccupied Dodge Charger he found running on McKinley Avenue, he said.
A short time later, Jester slid through the intersection at Riverside Drive and Philhower Road in the town of Beloit, according to a second criminal complaint. A Chevrolet Trailblazer then struck his car.
A passerby stopped, left her Mazda on the side of the road and got out to check on the condition of the driver of the Trailblazer. Jester helped the other driver out of the SUV and then took off north in the Mazda, according to the complaint.
Police found the Mazda stuck in a snow bank at Highway 51 and Townline Road in the town of Rock.
