Rattler men register win

— UW-Rock County split a pair of Wisconsin Collegiate Conference men's and women's basketball games Monday night.

The Rattler women lost, 57-51, to UW-Richland, and the men defeated Richland, 63-58.

UW-Richland sank seven of nine free throws in the last two minutes to secure the women's victory. The Rock County women are 14-9 overall and 13-6 in the WCC.

Courtney Draeving scored 13 points, Julia Dement added 12 and Cassondra Gestrich chipped in 10 points for Rock County.

Kyle Hoskins, an Elkhorn graduate, made eight straight free throws down the stretch in the second half to secure the victory for the Rock County men. Hoskins finished with 18 points.

Rock County is 9-13 overall and 4-5 in the WCC West Division.

David Harper, a Parker High graduate, scored 15 points, including making a pair of free throws with 20 seconds remaining for the final outcome. Danny Dessent from Elkhorn, chipped in 11 points.
