Parker girls enjoy living in the 80s

— The wins continue to pile up for Janesville Parker's girls basketball team.

The fifth-ranked Vikings hit the 80-point mark Thursday night for the second time this week in an 80-44 Big Eight Conference win over Beloit Memorial.

Parker improved to 15-1 overall, including 13-0 in the Big Eight. The first-place Vikings have a 2 1/2 game lead over Verona.

Beloit took an early 4-0 lead, but the Vikings responded with a 23-2 run to end the first quarter. Ashley Hartwig had seven points in the first quarter as Parker seized control.

The Vikings continued to pour it on in the second quarter as they outscored the Purple Knights 22-12 to take a commanding 45-18 hafltime lead. Sophomore Katie Dubanowich and Morgan McCulloch led the Vikings in the first half with 10 and nine points, respectively.

Hartwig and senior Dani Fugate led a balanced attack for Parker with 15 and 14 points, respectively. McCulloch finished with 14 and Dubanowich added 10.

Parker plays at last-place Madison East on Saturday afternoon. The Vikings beat the Purgolders 87-26 on Monday night.
