— Janesville Craig's softball team earned its second Big Eight Conference doubleheader split of the week Thursday.

The Cougars lost to Middleton, 6-1 in game one, before rolling to an 11-0 win in five innings in game two.

Craig (4-6, 3-4) banged out 16 hits in game two, including four doubles in a six-run third inning.

"That's as well as we've swung the bats all year," Craig coach Dan Bayreuther said of game two.

"But I'm tired of the ‘splitsvilles' and I told the team that afterward. We're better than that. We have to come ready to play from the start."

Alison Hughes had three hits for Craig in game two, while Molly Osiecki had three RBI.

Craig plays crosstown rival Janesville Parker in a doubleheader Tuesday.
