Janesville man gets life in prison for double murder
ROCKFORD, Ill. A Janesville man will spend the rest of his life in prison after an Illinois jury found him guilty of a 2010 double homicide in Rockford, prosecutors said this week.
Alexander G. Castillo, 29, was convicted of first-degree murder Monday, according to a news release from the Winnebago County State's Attorney.
Castillo was accused of shooting 29-year-old Christa Clark and 34-year-old Michael Clark to death early on the morning of May 10, 2010, in Rockford.
The Clarks' 7- and 1-year-old children were in their home during the shooting but were not hurt, police said.
Castillo was arrested later that day in Janesville, authorities said, and extradited to Winnebago County.
Castillo will be sentenced May 13, according to the news release.
Because he was convicted of killing two people, Castillo will receive a mandatory life sentence, Assistant State's Attorney Tiffany Davis said.
