Man arrested on fifth OWI charge

JANESVILLE — A man was arrested on a charge of fifth-offense operating while intoxicated after a Janesville police officer saw him driving erratically and nearly hit another car.
Bruce W. Southall, 30, of 2705 Autumn Lane, Janesville, was arrested at 2:42 a.m. Sunday, according to a news release from the Janesville Police Department.
Southall had a strong odor of intoxicants on his breath, poor balance and failed the standardized field sobriety test, according to the news release.
Southall, who is currently on federal probation, has four prior drunken-driving convictions, according to the news release.
He is being held at the Rock County Jail.
