Murder suspect appears in court
ROCKFORD, Ill. A Rockford man who authorities say shot a Janesville woman in the head Sept. 9 on Interstate 90/39 then evaded officials for a week appeared in court Wednesday for the first time since his capture in Memphis, Tenn.
Kody R. Walsh, 22, is already asking for a new judge. He could barely be seen on a video monitor inside a Winnebago Justice Center courtroom. He was represented by a lawyer who requested a substitute judge. There was some confusion before it was ultimately decided Walsh would next appear in court Oct. 11 before Judge Rosemary Collins to determine the next step in the legal process.
Walsh faces up to life in prison on a charge of murder in the death of Lori A. Daniels, 36, of 3100 Glenbarr Drive, Janesville. He is being held without bond.
