Madison Memorial's boys soccer team scored two goals in a two-minute span of the first half Thursday and coasted to a 5-0 Big Eight Conference win over Janesville Craig.

Craig (4-10-1, 0-6-0) played Memorial tough for the first 28 minutes but the back-to-back goals by the Spartans at the 28- and 30-minute mark of the first half broke the game open.

"That has been our Achilles heel all season," Craig coach Charlie Friedrich said of the defensive lapse. "We can't continue to give up the quick-strike goals.

"We were right there with them for most of the first half, and they're one of the better teams in our conference."

Keagan Leckey made 11 saves for the Cougars.

Craig hosts Milwaukee Pulaski in a nonconference match Saturday at 11 a.m.
