Paul Ryan and his niece Zaydee May stop at a corner on their trick-or-treating route in Ryan's Janesville neighborhood.

— Vice presidential candidate Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wisconsin, led a passel of children and a group of neighbors and friends around his old Halloween haunts for trick-or-treating Wednesday.

Ryan wore a red Wisconsin cap and jacket, at one point with his son’s sickle; his wife, Janna, wore a witch’s hat; daughter, Liza, was Katy Perry; and sons Charlie and Sam were the “Unknown Phantom” and a skeleton.

Trick-or-treating is an important tradition for the Ryan family. “This is the route I took when I was a kid,” Ryan told the dozen media and campaign workers following him with excitement in his voice. At one house, he pointed to a resident dressed as a ghoul handing out candy. “He’s been doing this for a decade,” he said.

At Sheriff Robert Spoden’s house, Ryan joked: “He’s a Democrat, and we’re actually friends.”

Read some books, please and pray the union machine goes back to Chicago. By the way, how IS Chicago doing?
***********************************************

Taxpayers spent $1.4 billion dollars on everything from staffing, housing, flying and entertaining President Obama and his family last year, according to the author of a new book on taxpayer-funded presidential perks.
In comparison, British taxpayers spent just $57.8 million on the royal family.
Author Robert Keith Gray writes in “Presidential Perks Gone Royal” that Obama isn’t the only president to have taken advantage of the expensive trappings of his office. But the amount of money spent on the first family, he argues, has risen tremendously under the Obama administration and needs to be reined in.
Gray told The Daily Caller that the $1.4 billion spent on the Obama family last year is the “total cost of the presidency,” factoring the cost of the “biggest staff in history at the highest wages ever,” a 50 percent increase in the numbers of appointed czars and an Air Force One “running with the frequency of a scheduled airline.”
Perspective: $1.4 billion is equal to spending seven times Mitt Romney’s entire net-worth every year. If Romney had to pay for Barack and Michelle’s lifestyle this year, he would have been bankrupted by the third week in February.
Now, can we please get back to talking about the evil, freeloading rich, who didn’t build that.

They come here to post their opinions on any given topic and/or belittle others who are doing the same thing(posting opinion). I hope when the gazette converts to a paywall we all have to identify ourselves to post comments. The discussion will only naturally become more civil.

Also, who attacks a man who is trick or treating with his family, in his hometown & makes it all about politics? I think Mr. Ryan was just enjoying the holiday, & trying to share with the public how he enjoys showing off his hometown, all while spending time with his family!

Stop tripping on the man. Or you may get a trick instead of a treat....

Seriously this is what gets you people all worked up a story about Tick or Treating , does hatred or blind love for a politician blind you to real issues? The 16 trillion plus debt neither party has a solution for but contributes to, Benghazi and the lies and cover up, Fast and Furious, Paul Ryan’s proposed budget with a 1.2 Trillion dollar deficit, high unemployment, high energy prices, growing government, loss of freedoms, Iran, Syria, China, proposed tax increases, slow growing economy, I can go on with much more important things but let’s focus on trick or treating. Let’s all stand by and continue to give power to a government that is out for itself and drags a few along for the ride that get fooled into thinking it does them good. It will not change with these parties not until we hit rock bottom will people wake up, so for that reason I am going to vote for Obama since he will drive us off the cliff faster than Romney.

A "photo op"? A photo to make him look like a family man? Ryan is a great family man and seeing him in our old neighborhood was great. So because some of you don't agree with his politics that makes him a bad person? A bad family man? It's sad how many people judge someones character based on their political beliefs. Really? Get a life.
---
You want to judge character, take a look in the mirror as you post ridiculous hate on a local newspaper blog daily. It doesn't matter who is elected, for some of you it will still be constant complaints and poor me. By the way, the house he is leaving?.. The owner is a friend and a big democrat. No making the 10 o'clock news or the front page the next day. Just another phony photo-op like him in the soup kitchen.

Then maybe we can start to heal again. When some on here can't even tolerate a Father taking his children out for a little spooky fun.

It's a real day for some of you to take a breathe and think about just how petty and bitter you are the four years Obama's spoke of divide -

I know it's an Alinsky method to divide rich vs poor, etc - but as Americans who grew up with the American spirit, that's not our way.

We don't hate each other because of politics or religion or wealth. But somehow Obama managed to do that.

The normalcy angle is a joke. Paul Ryan chose to be a Vice Presidential candidate for the United States of America. I am fairly certain that he understood that with that potential job came a lot of garbage, one of which is limted time with family and missing out on important milestones and events in children's lives....because, well, you are helping run the greatest country in the world. Ask the people on his block or the church he attends if their lives haven't been impacted over the last few months with secret service folks all over the place. It comes with the territory.
