Craig volleyball gives conference champs a fight
Janesville Craig gave Big Eight volleyball champion Middleton a run, but the Cardinals completed their undefeated run through the Big Eight Conference with a 3-1 victory over the host Cougars on Tuesday.
Middleton (9-0) won, 25-17, 17-25, 25-20, 25-15.
"I'm disappointed in the result, but I loved how we played," Craig coach Blake Budrow said. "The first three games were exceptional volleyball, and in the fourth game, I think it was 13-13 before they got on a run."
Budrow praised the play of Ali Calkins (11 kills) and Ally Raymond (9 kills).
"Our two middles did a great job, and Katie Villa made some great sets again," Budrow said. "Our back row players, Meghan Hulen and Kristi Crandall served and received well."
The Cougars (6-3) participates in the Big Eight Conference Tournament on Saturday at Sun Prairie.
