Verona keeps Janesville Bluebirds winless

The Janesville Bluebirds continue to search for win No. 1 this season.

Verona jumped out to a 3-0 lead after one period Tuesday night and coasted to an 8-0 Big Eight Conference win over Janesville's high school co-op boys hockey team.

Janesville fell to 0-4 on the season, including 0-2 in the Big Eight.

"Verona's just a better team than we are right now," Janesville coach John Mauermann said. "But that's no excuse for giving up eight goals.

"We've got to go back to work and figure some things out. There is a lot of season left."

Janesville hosts Madison Memorial next Thursday at the Janesville Ice Skating Center.
