— A Whitewater man faces numerous criminal charges after police seized 88 marijuana plants from his home, according to a news release from the Whitewater Police Department.

On Tuesday, the Whitewater Police and the UW-Whitewater Police Department took 88 marijuana plants and ecstasy pills.

George Scheuller, 23, of 262 South Wisconsin St., was arrested on charges of manufacturing and delivery of marijuana, four counts of manufacture and delivery of a designer drug, possession of a controlled substance, maintaining a drug trafficking place and possession of marijuana.

Police estimate the plants had a street value of $189,200.

Several other tenants were charged with drug related offenses.

The arrest came after a lengthy investigation in which police received information that drugs were being used and sold by residents.

The charges have been referred to the Walworth County District Attorney's Office for prosecution.
