— The Walworth County Highway Department is hosting a meeting to discuss its 2013 road projects.

The meeting will take place from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, at the Delavan municipal building, 123 South St.

The two projects include:

-- County M from County P to Highway 89, northwest of Delavan. The county is considering two methods to repair the pavement and will pick the most cost-effective. In either case, the intersections will be upgraded with curbs and gutters. All culvert pipes will be replaced.

-- County O from the Delavan city limits north to County A. The project will create a long-lasting roadway surface and add a 3-foot paved shoulder. The new shoulder will help with traffic volume and the increased number of bicycles using the road.

The existing road will be recycled by grinding and re-using the asphalt for base. New asphalt will then be placed on top of it.

Intersections will be upgraded with curbs and gutters. All culvert pipes will be replaced.

Residents and property owners along the route are encouraged to attend the meeting. County officials and engineers are especially interested in hearing from residents about existing drainage issues, locations of field drains and any historic buildings or structures along the route.

Suggest removal

I believe the Delavan Municipal Building is at 123 S. Second Street.

There is a South Street in Lake Geneva and a West Street in Elkhorn, but there is no South Street in Delavan
