Parker's Weilbrenner a first-team pick

Parker High senior midfielder Tyler Weilbrenner became the first Janesville player to be named to the All-Big Eight Conference boys soccer first team since Craig's Kyle Pateros in 2006 and the Vikings' first honoree in 10 years.

Middleton led the All-Big Eight first team with four players, including senior midfielder Derek Ott and junior defender Jack Hagstrom who were unanimous and repeat selections. Cardinals' goalkeeper Daniel Geanon and forward Steven Harris were also first-team selections.

Middleton had the best offense in the Big Eight Conference, scoring 45 goals in nine matches. The Cardinals also had the best defense, yielding just three goals en route to an undefeated season.

Ott and Hagstrom were named to the first team of the Wisconsin Soccer Coaches Association all-state team. Ott finished the season with 23 goals and 22 assists, while Hagstrom had six goals and two assists.

Meanwhile, local honorable mention choices include: Parker goalkeeper John Fillion, defenders Mason Jenson, Quinton Nauer and forwards Jonothan Trejo and Carlos Reyes.

Craig honorable mention selections include: defenders Noel Ceballos and Dan Swales; midfielder Ian Reinicke and forward Peyton Wunn.
