Rattlers split games
WAUSAU The visiting UW-Rock County Rattlers split with UW-Marathon in Wisconsin Colligate Conference men's and women's basketball Monday.
The UW-Rock women defeated UW-Marathon, 56-38, but the UW-Rock men suffered a 65-42 defeat.
Kiki Smith scored 17 points, including four three-point goals to spark the UW-Rock women. Kasey Chesebro, a Parker High graduate, followed Smith's effort with 15 points.
The women Rattlers are 2-1 in the WCC and 2-2 overall.
The UW-Rock men had trouble with ball control, committing 32 turnovers en route to its first conference loss. The men are 3-1 in the WCC and 3-2 overall.
"We gave up 32 opportunities to score," UW-Rock coach Scott Lee said. "We won (last) Saturday and had only eight turnovers.''
David Harper notched a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds for the Rattlers.
The UW-Rock women and men host UW-Richland at 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., respectively, Wednesday.
