Police rule out arson in Milton fire
MILTON Investigators found no evidence that a fire at a Milton bar was caused by arson, according to a news release from the Milton Police Department.
The Milton Fire Department was dispatched at 8:54 p.m. Wednesday to Buckaroo’s BBQ and Bucked Off Saloon, 231 Front St., Milton. Fire fighters arrived to find flames inside the building, concentrated in the bar area on the northwest side of the building, according to the news release.
Janesville, Edgerton and Fort Atkinson fire departments also responded to the blaze.
The Milton Police Department requested help from the Rock County Sheriff’s Office to investigate, according to the news release. State and federal investigators also assisted.
After a “lengthy investigation” by all agencies, no indication of arson was found, according to the release. Investigators think the fire started in the ceiling of the bar area.
Officials have not released damage totals, but Milton Deputy Fire Chief Rob Calhoon said the building was heavily damaged by smoke, fire and water.
The bar was closed at the time of the fire, and no people were in the building.
