— The Waunakee Warriors wrapped up the Wisconsin Lacrosse Federation regular season with a 11-4 victory over the Janesville Bluebirds on Thursday.

Waunakee led 5-0 after the first quarter and never looked back in wrapping up the Madison Area Lacrosse Association's Red Conference title.

The seven-goal loss was the closest Janesville has been to Waunakee since a 17-7 loss April 22, 2010.

"The last four times we played Waunakee, we lost 15-3, 16-3, 18-0 and 18-1," said coach Andrew Beaumont. "So, even though we're not about moral victories, we are seeing improvement."

Janesville got within 10-4 early in the fourth.

Eric Monroe, Sam Fischer, Taylor Stokes and Eric Krueger scored for Janesville. Stokes also had an assist.

Freshman Dylan Kelley made his first start in goal and had nine saves. Janesville was outshot 38-14.

Janesville (0-10 MALA, 0-14 overall) will play in the first round of the WLF playoffs on Tuesday.
