Janesville man charged with robbing women
JANESVILLE A Monday preliminary hearing is scheduled for a Janesville man charged with breaking into a Janesville home last month and injuring two women in their 70s before robbing them, according to a criminal complaint.
Erik K. J. Garcia, 28, of 1326 Hamilton Ave., No. 107, Janesville, is charged in Rock County Court with burglary, robbery and two counts of aggravated battery of an elderly person.
According to a criminal complaint:
The women, ages 70 and 77, reported a man wearing a black mask forced entry into their home at about 9:15 p.m. April 29. The man pushed one woman to the ground and pushed the other woman into a bedroom. He grabbed a purse containing $1,300 and took a bag containing about $160 in change from a safe.
The women told police they recognized Garcia's voice because he had been in their home previously. The women sustained bruises from being pushed by Garcia, they said.
Garcia is scheduled to appear in court at 2:45 p.m. Monday.
