Janesville Craig, La Follette fall in Big Eight soccer finales

— Janesville Craig’s girls soccer team lost, 3-0, to Madison East on Thursday to finish the Big Eight Conference season.

Craig finished 4-5 in the Big Eight and is 8-8-4 overall.

“Finishing above .500 (in the Big Eight) was our goal,” Craig coach Bill McCabe said. “We talked about it all week. We needed this game in the worst way, but it didn’t go our way.’’

-- La Follette 5, Parker 3—The Vikings equalled their season goal total but came up short in the Big Eight finale.

Parker (0-17, 0-9) tied the game at 3-3 in the first half on freshman Paige Smith’s second goal of the game.

“We were right there with them, we just ran out of time,” Parker coach Amy Wargowsky said. “The effort was definitely there for us tonight.”

Kim Fields scored Parker’s other goal. Brianna Washington made nine saves.
