— The Janesville Lacrosse Club couldn’t keep early momentum as Verona slowly pulled away to an 11-3 victory Tuesday night at Optimist Park.

Eric Monroe gave Janesville a 1-0 lead 1:55 into the game. Jacob Gray scored off a feed from Nick Krueger a little more than 90 seconds later and the Bluebirds were up 2-0.

But Verona crept back to tie the game before the end of the quarter.

Krueger put Janesville up 3-2 1:50 into the second quarter, but Janesville wouldn’t score the rest of the game.

Verona led 6-3 at halftime and added four goals in the third and another in the fourth.

Collin Cropp made his first start in goal for Janesville and made 12 saves.

Janesville (0-12) plays at 5:30 p.m. Friday at Waukesha.
