Sauk Prairie rolls past Janesville

— Sauk Prairie showed why it is a favorite to repeat as Wisconsin Lacrosse Federation Division 2 champions with a 16-4 thrashing of the Janesville Lacrosse Club on Saturday.

Sauk Prairie led 4-0 before Janesville scored twice in 41 seconds with 2:54 left in the first quarter.

Sauk Prairie scored nine straight goals before Janesville’s Eric Monroe scored with 2:43 left in the third.

Sauk Prairie outshot Janesville 33-13 and won 18 out of 19 faceoffs.

“They really controlled the entire game,” said Janesville coach Andrew Beaumont. “We struggled to find a rhythm all afternoon.”

Monroe scored twice for Janesville, and Nick Krueger and Brandon Coleman added a goal apiece.

The Janesville JV Blue defeated the Sauk Prairie JV, 6-0.

Janesville (0-10) hosts Verona at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Optimist Park in the final home match of the regular season.
