— An anemic offense continues to plague Janesville Parker’s baseball team.

The Vikings managed only two runs in losing twice Saturday at Riverside Park.

Beloit Memorial picked up its first Big Eight Conference win of the season with a 4-1 win over Parker in the first game.

In the second game, Parker could muster only three hits in a 5-1 nonconference loss to Kenosha Bradford.

Parker (2-13, 2-10), which has lost 10 straight, has scored only 15 runs in its last seven games.

“Our pitching and defense have been fine, we’re just not swinging the bats very well right now,” Parker coach Brian Martin said. “It seems like when we get guys on base, we can’t come up with the clutch hit.

“We’re in every game, it seems. We just aren’t taking advantage of any opportunities we’re getting.”

Beloit (5-11, 1-11) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in game one, then rode the right arm of Trey Caple for the win. Caple struck out six and scattered seven hits in going the distance.

Parker’s Mike Heyerdahl also went the distance. He also struck out six, but allowed four runs, three of which were earned.

Against Bradford, Parker fell behind 4-0 in the third inning and could not recover.

Parker hosts Madison East on Tuesday at Riverside Park.
