La Follette sweeps singles for win

Host Madison La Follette swept the four singles matches en route to a 5-2 win over Janesville Craig in Big Eight boys tennis Tuesday.

Craig (0-5 in conference) got wins from Zack Hardin and Joe Worple (7-2) at No. 2 doubles, along with Rob Sroda and Adam Masters at No. 3 doubles.

“Our inexperience in singles is hurting us right now,” Craig coach Justin Long said. “And our doubles play continues to be our strong suit.”


Singles—Erik Linders (L) def. Katsumi Neeno, 6-2, 6-2; Noah Lawrence-Holder (L) def. Izaya Turenne, 6-2, 6-1; Nic Olson (L) def. Connor McMahon, 6-0, 6-0; Grady Hilgendorf (L) def. Matt Hayden, 6-3, 6-4.

Doubles—Adam Martin-Keaton Walkowskirz (L) def. Cody Lipetri-Sam de Purtiloff, 6-3, 6-4; Zack Hardin-Joe Worple (JC) def. Casey Gallagher-Nathan Schmitz, 6-2, 6-3; Rob Sroda-Adam Masters (JC) def. Joe Hayes-Patrick Kelcny, 6-0, 6-1.

Junior varsity—La Follette 7, Craig 0.
