Crandall sparks Janesville Craig

— Kristi Crandall scored with a less than seven minutes remaining Tuesday to give Craig High a 3-2 victory over Madison La Follette in Big Eight Conference girls soccer.

The teams scored two goals apiece in the first half. Monica Speth score both of the Cougars’ goals with assists from Crandall and Kayleah Wright, respectively.

“We thought we could beat them by more than we did,” Craig coach Bill McCabe said. “I don’t know what distracted us, but we buckled down to play better soccer in the second half.”

Craig is 3-2 in the Big Eight and 7-4-3 overall.

The Cougars host Madison Memorial at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Parker, 0-5 in the conference, got 29 saves from goalkeeper Brianna Washington.

“I know the score was 7-0, but I was happy with the way we played,” Parker coach Amy Wargowsky said. “We’re starting to click a little bit better.”

Parker plays at Verona on Thursday.
