Wheeler, three relievers combine for shutout

— Jason Wheeler blanked the visiting Dayton Dragons on two hits through the first six innings Monday afternoon to lead the Beloit Snappers to a 7-0 victory in Midwest League baseball.

Three Snappers relievers pitched a scoreless inning apiece to complete the shutout. Wheeler (3-0) walked one, notched seven strikeouts, and put down 14 consecutive batters.


Miguel Sano had two hits and knocked in a pair of runs. Jhon Goncalves and Roy Rhodes also had a pair of hits, with Rhodes knocking in three runs for Beloit.
