— Residents can now watch a Janesville School Board meeting at any time, from anywhere they can get Internet access.

Meetings and other district videos are available on the district's YouTube channel, the district announced.

Videos will be available within 24 hours of a school board meeting "under normal circumstances," according to a news release.

The board's March 13 meeting already has been posted at youtube.com/user/The

JanesvilleSchools. The recent school board candidates forum also is posted.

The board's most recent meeting was Tuesday night, so it should be available on YouTube sometime today.

Making the videos available is part of the district's response to staff and parents who have asked, through annual surveys, for open communications, according to the news release.

Board meetings also are shown live on Janesville Charter Cable channels 96/993. They are repeated on those TV channels at 9 a.m. Monday through Friday.

The district had been streaming board meetings live on its website but suspended that service because of equipment problems, which it hopes to correct soon. The equipment upgrade also is expected to give the district more control over when specific programs are shown on channels 96/993.
