Janesville officer hurt in squad crash

— A Janesville police officer was treated and released at St. Mary's Janesville Hospital after a crash in his squad car at 4 p.m. Friday in Janesville.

Officer Benjamin Biddick, 34, was traveling north on Cornelia Street when his squad car collided with a westbound vehicle driven by Edward L. Smith, 19, of 702 Prairie St., Janesville, in the uncontrolled intersection with Walker Street, according to a Rock County Sheriff's Office report.

Smith was cited for causing injury by driving without a license, driving without insurance, unreasonable speed, non-registration, displaying false registration plates and failure to transfer plates.

Smith was not injured.

The squad car sustained moderate damage.
