— Madison Memorial High did not have its usual “state tournament magic” Friday night.

Germantown was responsible for that.

The Warhawks dominated the defending WIAA Division 1 state champions and almost set a state tournament record for margin of victory in an 81-43 semifinal win at the Kohl Center.

The Warhawks ran their perfect record to 27-0 and will play Milwaukee King for the Division 1 state title tonight at approximately 8:30 p.m.

In a tournament that has been filled with mismatches, this game figured to be one of the best of the three days. The Warhawks erased any hopes of a competitive game by going on a 15-4 run to close out the first half.

The 38-point final margin fell just one point short of tying the biggest margin of victory in state tournament history.

Senior Zak Showalter led the Warhawks with 22 points and nine assists.

Sophomore Jake Showalter made six of eight three-point attempts en route to a season-high 22 points.

Memorial senior guard Junior Lomomba finished with 18 points. The Spartans finished 25-2.
