Stone falls on Colfax

— Diamond Stone was a quality gem Thursday night.

The 6-foot-9 forward from Whitefish Bay Dominican recorded a triple double to lead the Knights to a 67-44 victory over Colfax in the Division 4 semifinals of the WIAA state tournament.


Dominican (26-1) plays Cuba City (27-0) in the title game at 1 p.m. Saturday.


Stone finished with 15 points, 15 rebounds and 14 blocks in 25 minutes. His block total broke the division record of 11 set by Randolph’s Greg Stiemsma in 2002.


Junior guard Duane Wilson finished with 22 points. Jamall Taylor added 15 points and seven rebounds.

-- Cuba City 72, Oshkosh Lourdes 27—Cuba City breezed to its 27th straight win and a WIAA Division 4 state championship test Saturday against Whitefish Bay Dominican.


The Cubans held Oshkosh Lourdes to six points in the second half.


Senior guard Cory Vaassen and senior center Zach Adams led the Cubans with 13 points each. Trent Denlinger and Nate Murray added 12 points each.


Sophomore forward Kyle Hellmann led Lourdes (23-4) with six points.


Cuba City will face Whitefish Bay Dominican at 1 p.m. Saturday.

-- Racine Lutheran 64, Drummond 35—Racine Lutheran (24-4) will face Sheboygan Lutheran (24-4) in the Division 5 championship game at 11 a.m. Saturday.


Racine Lutheran held Drummond (24-4) scoreless for an 11-minute stretch that spanned the first, second and third quarters in a semifinal Thursday afternoon. The winners shot 75 percent in the first half, hitting 18 of 24 shots.


Junior forward Clay Stevens scored 13 pointsto lead the winners, while Tyler Naegeli added 10. Senior Ty Demuth finished with six points, six assists and 10 rebounds.


Junior forward Ben Best led Drummond with 14 points.

Dekker hit a three-pointer with 1:14 left that put Lutheran up, 59-57.


After Lutheran made two of four free throws, McDonell’s Kyle Cody hit a running three-pointer with 10 seconds to go to make it 61-60.


Jake Jurss made two free throws with 5.7 seconds left, and Sheboygan Lutheran fouled Cody to prevent a game-tying three-pointer with 3.7 on the clock. Cody sank the first, intentionally missed the second, and teammate Josh Watton grabbed the ball but his attempt to win the game with a three-pointer was blocked and fell far short.


Cody led the Macks (25-3) with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Tyler Erickson had 12 points and Ryan Baier added 11 for McDonell in a game that had 25 lead changes.


Dekker finished with 35 points, 16 rebounds and seven blocks.
