— Stephanie Kasun, a Delavan-Darien High School junior, will ski the slalom and giant slalom events in the Eastern Region National High School Championships this Friday and Saturday in Bartlett, N.H.

Kasun, 17, qualified as one of the top 12 female high school-aged downhill skiers in the state at a qualifying event earlier this year in La Crosse.

Kasun trains through a ski team program at Mukwonago High School. Downhill skiing is not a WIAA sanctioned sport for Wisconsin schools.

“It’s really exhilarating,” Kasun said. “I like speed, and working harder and getting better.”
