Bandits complete sweep of Janesville Jets

— The visiting Janesville Jets slipped a bit more out of first place in the Midwest Division race as the St. Louis Bandits handed the Jets a 1-0 defeat Sunday to sweep a North American Hockey League three-game series.

St. Louis improved to 36-13-2, while Janesville fell to 34-16-3. The Bandits hold a 74-71 lead in points.

The Bandits’ Cody Gancher scored the winning goal at 15:55 of the third period.

St. Louis goalkeeper Spencer Viele made 27 saves to post the shutout. Janesville’s Brock Kautz stopped 27 of 28 shots.

The victory marked the Bandits’ second three-game sweep of the Jets. St. Louis has won eight of 11 games over the Jets. It was the final regular-season series for the teams.

Janesville hosts Coulee Region (16-28-7) at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Janesville Ice Arena. Janesville has seven regular-season games remaining.
