Milton girls team wins state title

The Milton sixth-grade girls basketball team earned the Wisconsin State Basketball Tournament championship this past weekend.

The state tournament was in Merrill, and the Milton squad went 6-1. The Wildcats lost their first game, then finished with six straight wins, including a 30-25 win over Merrill in the semifinals and 30-23 over Beaver Dam in the championship game.

The Wildcats played in the Girls Tri-County League out of Madison. The sixth-grade team played in a seventh-grade league and won their division with an 10-4 record.

Members of the Wildcats’ state championship team are Kylie Campion, Emma Martin, Maria Seeman, Kate Westrick, Carley Albrecht, Halie Campion, Jessica Barbeau, Emma Chellevold, Amber Mussey and Hailey Anderson.

Dennis Campion was the team’s head coach, and Mike Westrick and Robert Seeman were assistants.
