Lake Geneva man convicted in sex assault

ELKHORN A Lake Geneva man was convicted Monday of sexually assaulting a child younger than 16.
John J. Baumeister, 29, of 526 Franklin Ave., pleaded guilty to having sex with a 15-year-old girl in Lake Geneva in September 2010. He faces a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison plus 15 years extended supervision and a $100,000 fine. Sentencing was set for 9 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 30.
A plea agreement resulted in the dismissal of a charge of repeated sexual assault of a child. The agreement also called for prosecutors to stand silent at sentencing on the issue of incarceration.
