Kernels power past Beloit Snappers
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa The Beloit Snappers were hammered with three home runs Sunday en route to a 9-1 loss to Cedar Rapids in Midwest League baseball.
The Snappers scored their only run in the first inning on three singles off Kernels starter Dan Reynolds. Beloit was blanked on four hits the rest of the way.
Beloit starter Steven Gruver (5-6) allowed three runs on five hits through five innings, including solo homers to the Kernels’ Andy Workman in the third inning and Zach Wright in the fourth. Wright socked a three-run shot off Bart Carter in the seventh.
