Bees defeat Beloit Snappers

BELOIT — The Beloit Snappers were tagged for six runs through the final four innings Sunday en route to a 6-2 loss to the visiting Burlington Bees in Midwest League baseball.

The Bees hammered out 10 hits, including three home runs, to defeat the Snappers. Beloit starter Matthew Summers

(6-4) allowed four runs on eight hits, including two homers, in 7 1/3 innings to take the loss.

Bobby Crocker hit a two-run homer off Summers with two outs in the sixth to tie the game, and Royce Consigli ripped a solo shot off Summers in the seventh to put the Bees ahead for good, 3-2. Sean Jamieson hit a two-run homer off Snappers reliever Ryan O’Rourke in the ninth to cap the Bees’ scoring.

Beloit was held to five hits. The Snappers’ first five batters went hitless.

The Snappers are off for the Midwest League All-Star break. Beloit begins the second half of the Midwest League season Friday at Cedar Rapids.
