Traffic stop leads to marijuana seizure

— What began as a traffic stop ended with two arrests on drug charges.

At 7:28 p.m. Friday, a Rock County Sheriff’s deputy stopped a car driven by William F. Buchko, 45, of 1115 Hamilton Ave., Janesville, for a seat belt violation, according to a news release from the Rock County Sheriff’s Office.

Janesville Police Department’s K-9 unit was called in, and a search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of a pound of marijuana. Officers later searched Buchko’s home and found more marijuana as well as drug paraphernalia.

Buchko was arrested on charges of possession with intent to deliver marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

At 12:45 a.m. Saturday, officers from Rock County Sheriff’s Office, the Janesville Police Department and Beloit Township executed a search warrant at 3335 Riverside Drive, Beloit Township.

As a result of the warrant, the home’s owner, Kyle L. C. Gronau, 28, was arrested on charges of possession with intent to deliver marijuana, possession of psilocybin mushrooms, delivery of marijuana within 1,000 feet of a park and possession of drug paraphernalia.

In total, offiicers seized 3.4 pounds of high-grade marijuana, ¼-ounce of psilocybin mushrooms, $2,284 in cash and several items used to package, sell and consume marijuana.

Buchko and Gronau are being held at the Rock County Sheriff’s Office awaiting their initial court appearance on Monday.
