Garden tour set for June 23-24 in Evansville
The tour will feature seven Evansville gardens, student-created garden decorations, gardening demonstrations, artwork and more. Featured gardens include:
"Storybook Garden" at 205 N. Sixth St. Each garden will have a different children's book as a theme. Evansville Floral will give flower arranging demonstrations from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday and from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
"Where the Wild Things Are" at 344 Garfield St. High school students will demonstrate welding and sell garden artifacts.
"Game of Thrones" at 260 Garfield St. Decorative chairs will be on display and for sale.
"Midsummer Night's Dream" at 132 W. Main St. Evansville Blooms will give garden and container panting demonstrations.
"The Little Engine that Could" at 243 W. Main St. A railroad garden will feature real trains running through small towns.
"Little House on the Prairie" at 4304 N. Cornfield Drive. Phil Kress will provide information on prairie plants and maintenance.
"Water, Water Everywhere" at 8328 N. Cemetery Road. John Gishnock, owner of Formecology, will give pruning demonstrations from 1 to 3 p.m. both days. He also will discuss how to set up and maintain water features.
Tickets cost $15 and are good for both days. They can be purchased from the district office or from any garden location the day of the tour. Proceeds benefit the Evansville Education Foundation.
