Milton stays unbeaten with 11-inning victory

— The Milton Junction Pub Raptors defeated visiting Madison Laurel Tavern, 9-8, Sunday in an 11-inning thriller in Rock River League baseball.

The first-place Raptors are 5-0 in the Rock River League and 9-0 overall.

Laurel Tavern scored twice in the top of the 11th for an 8-6 lead. Milton’s Tyler Allison ripped an RBI single to tie it and Joe Shere produced the game-winning RBI single.

Milton’s six-run rally in the sixth inning erased a 3-0 deficit. T.J. Klawitter smacked an RBI single to highlight the rally. Laurel Tavern scored three runs in the eighth inning to tie the game 6-6.

Joe Shere relieved starter Sean McCann in the sixth inning and went on to earn the victory. Shere posted five strikeouts and walked one.

Milton had 14 hits, including two apiece from T.J. Klawitter, Tom Perry, Tom Scalissi, Josh Shere and Joe Shere.

The Raptors play at Fort Atkinson on Friday and travel Sunday to Clyman for a Rock River League game.
